Life, Music, and The Human Condition

I learned today that sometimes, in order to really understand why a person is the way they are, or why they do the things they do, you have to look very far into the past. A lot of what you find there may surprise you. I’m still discovering things about people I’ve known my whole life, and it’s humbling. It’s easy to judge quickly, but it takes a lot of wisdom to appreciate how a person’s past can affect them and make them act certain ways. Especially in childhood, things can happen that shape a person forever. Good things and terrible things happen to people. These same people become our grandparents, parents, children. These same people become us.
