Edwards Deep | spencermccoy
Happy Halloween! Here’s a track I did with Eric Johnson. It’s about the Loch Ness Monster.
In 1989 George Edwards discovered an unknown rift at the bottom of Loch Ness. Named Edwards Deep, this new finding fueled many new theories concerning what might be the truth about the Loch Ness Monster. Author Steve Alten made some scary good guesses in his book The Loch, even suggesting that the “monster” might be a species of critters that migrate to the Loch every year to mate, and then return to the ocean to feed on giant squid and other sea beasties. The discovery of Edwards Deep might be the clue as to how they get in and out…
Anyway, this was all exciting news to me, and I wanted to make a funky song about these creatures traveling to the Loch to hang out and taunt the tourists. I decided I needed a real bassist for this song, and I enlisted the help of my long time bass manipulating cohort, Mr. Eric Johnson. As you can hear, he took to it straight away. The haunting bass sounds near the end are one of my favorite sounds ever to be produced on any instrument.
